John Abraham enters Hollywood standards

John Abraham enters combat zone
Bollywood Hunk John Abraham may be a regular macho man, but Nishikant Kamath has decided that John Abraham needs to get special training to carry off his next, an untitled out-and-out action film. So John is now readying to fly off to the US in February for some commando-like training by a set of Hollywood action specialists who have earlier been associated with films like Kill Bill.

A source close to John Abraham says, “Considering that action films in Bollywood are now made to Hollywood standards, the director wants John to do his necessary homework in America. The film has an amazing amount of action, and he will be trained like a commando. The month long training session requires 10-12 hours of work everyday,” says a source.

Incidentally, the actor isn’t required to change his diet. “The trainer took a look at John’s pictures and found him physically fit. So he can follow his existing fitness regime,” adds the source.

Confirming the news, John says, “I am very excited about Nishikant’s film and looking forward to work with him. Action is the genre that I will and want to attempt.”

The rest of the film’s cast is yet to be finalised. The source says, “The film will go on floors sometime in midyear. The production house, UTV, has already started with pre-production.”

Katrina Kaif will wear bikini in Dostana 2?

Katrina Kaif will wear bikini in Dostana 2?
Bollywood Actor Salman Khan may not want to see his girlfriend Katrina Kaif in skimpy clothes but the actress is likely to wear a bikini if the latest news is to be believed. The news is doing the rounds that Katrina would be seen in a sexy avatar in Dostana 2 to be produced by Dharma Production.

Priyanka Chopra, who acted in the original Dostana, wear a swimsuit. So, it has become inevitable for Katrina Kaif to wear the two-piece cloth. It is said that designer Manish Malhotra would design the beachwear for Katrina kaif for two scenes in the Dostana sequel.

It may be recalled that Katrina Kaif made the guys feel weak in the knees in Boom with her bikini top. She however discarded it after her career boomed. So, it will be a treat for her fans and filmlovers to see Katrina Kaif in bikini again.

Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie, Robert Pattinson-Kristen Stewart, Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif

Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif
It seems celebrity couples all across the globe just love to keep their fans speculating over their relationship status. They just love their fans to keep guessing whether they are an item or just friends! There have been many examples of such celebs…be it Hollywood or Bollywood…the story is the same!

1. Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie – Brangelina certainly is Numero Uno in the list. “Are they together Or did they split up” is the basic search. According to one recent report, Brangelina has decided to split. While another report says that the split reports are all rumors! No comments from Pitt or Jolie yet and the story is still developing…

2. Robert Pattinson-Kristen Stewart – Here comes up another young and fresh entry! There have been various reports written about their relationship. But neither of the two has commented yet. And that leaves the fans speculating for ever…

3. Miley Cyrus-Liam Hemsworth – “What’s with that ring on her finger?”…is creating the buzz. The couple has been reported as an item but we are still to get confirmation from the stars whether they are together and all set to marry soon!
Bollywood is also not lagging behind to play hide-and-seek with the fans…

4. Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif – Salman has announced recently that he is still dating Katrina Kaif. On the other hand Katrina told that she would get married within 2years, but she didn’t name the groom! Hey come on guys, speak up clearly!

5. Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone – One day they call it off…next day they are spotted together in a party. When Ranbir says that he is single and wants Deepika back, it’s time for Deepika to deny that she is single! Confusing, isn’t it?
Whew…these celebs do surely know how to be in news and perhaps the best possible way is to make the fans glued on their relation quotient!

My name is Khan was Challenge For Me

My name is Khan was Challenge For Me
Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan said enacting the character of an autistic person in My Name is Khan was a challenge for him. "I think it is a very new and difficult concept. I play Rizwan Khan, a person suffering from autism. I prepared well for the role. I hope I have done well."

"Of course, I have taken some cinematic liberties with it," he added. Shahrukh Khan said when he, Karan (Johar) and Kajol come together they think about what new could be done, and that is how My Name Is Khan has evolved. He also thanked the people of the country for loving him and his work for so many years.

Shahrukh Khan, who is also owner the team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) of the Indian Premier League, skirted question on why Pakistani cricketers were not selected during the auction held last week.

Shahrukh Khan said IPL was a game and which should be enjoyed. He said his team KKR was short of the fast bowler which it got, so now his team was complete.

Ranbir, Priyanka Chopra meet Sylvester Stallone

Ranbir, Priyanka Chopra meet Sylvester Stallone
They’re playing Anjaana and Anjaani in the US and are just about cordial to each other. But Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor are bonded by their love for the Rocky-Rambo superstar Sylvester Stallone.

In fact, one of the temptations for the pair to do Sajid Nadiadwala’s Anjaana Anjaani was that the producer was a friend of Stallone, after his last film Kambakkht Ishq where Sylvester Stallone played a cameo role.

“Ranbir Kapor and Priyanka definitely want to meet Sylvester Stallone. I’m flying down to the Las Vegas to join them on 27 January. We’ll be meeting Sylvester Stallone on the 4th or 5th of February,” informs Sajid who earlier made Kareena Kapoor’s soul-mate Saif Ali Khan’s day when Saif drove down from Chicago to meet Stallone in Los Angeles for Sajid’s Kambakkht Ishq.

Ranbir Kapoor is a much bigger Stallone fan than Saif could ever be. Sajid and his young son Subhaan were supposed to meet Stallone during the New Year. But Stallone injured his neck and the appointment was cancelled. Now a new date is being worked out.

Apparently Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra refused to let Sajid and his son meet Stallone alone. They insisted on accompanying their producer for the meeting.

Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra meet Sylvester Stallone
Says Sajid, “I think Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra will kill me if I go without them to see Sly. We’ll all be driving down from Las Vegas where Ranbir and Priyanka Chopra are shooting, to Los Angeles to meet Stallone. It’s a 2-3 hour drive.”

Ranbir Kapoor, a big Sylvester Stallone fans owns a series of Rocky t-shirts. He intends to get a couple of them signed by the star.

Ranbir, Katrina Kaif will win National Awards for Raajneeti

Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif will win National Awards

Bollywood Director Prakash Jha is confident about his Upcoming film Raajneeti will fetch the prestigious National Awards for Actor Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

"This film will take Actor Ranbir Kapoor to another level," said Jha. He has cast the actor as US-educated scion of a political dynasty who has to reluctantly return home to shoulder his family's duties.

"I hope, no, I'm in fact pretty certain, he'll win the National Award for his performance," Prakash Jha said.

"Actress Katrina Kaif has breathed fire and passion into her role. From the way she metamorphoses from a young vivacious girl to the way she walks to give her public speeches as a politician. Audiences won't be able to believe the transformation of Katrina. I won't be surprised if both Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif win National Awards," he added.

He can't stop preening over the fact that his Raajneeti features the maximum number of National Award winners in its cast, Arjun Rampal being the latest.

"Everyone is outstanding in the film. And why not? I've a line-up of National Award winners in the cast - from Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar to Manoj Bajpai and Ajay Devgn.

"When I heard Arjun had won the National Award for Rock On!, I was ecstatic. He is fantastic in my film."

Prakash Jha claims Raajneeti is the biggest multi-starrer. "I think it'd be impossible to get so many stars under one roof for any other director."

Katrina Kaif & Hrithik Roshan Together?

Hrithik Roshan and katrina kaif
These days, Katrina Kaif is picking roles that will provide her the chance to prove her mettle as an actress. She is rumoured to be a part of Zoya Akhtar’s movie
which stars Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Hrithik Roshan.

If she is indeed a part of the said film, Katrina Kaif will be the only female lead. It will be an achievement of sorts because audiences will see her cast opposite Hrithik Roshan for the first time. While Katrina has refused to talk about the film
point blank, Farhan mentioned that even though it’s early to talk about the film, if Katrina is a part of it, she will be Hrithik’s love interest. Abhay and Farhan have no love interests in the film.
Katrina Kaif Act with Hrithik Roshan

He expressed that the film is dependent upon the bonding between the three co-stars. If Katrina does this film, not only will it be her first time working with Hrithik, but she will also be working with a woman director for the first time. The film will go on floors in April.

Salman Khan: I will cook and paint

Salman Khan: I will cook and paint
Sitting in his turf, surrounded by lovely sister Alvira, gorgeous sister-in-law Malaika, and their cute-naughty-hyperactive kids, Bollywood Actor Salman Khan seems a happy man. He’s known to keep aloof when media is around, but today is different. The dude doesn’t seem to care about the world and resolves to have a great time, cycling with his nephews and playing with his dog - a 2 month old French Mastiff, whom he lovingly calls Veer.

Salman Khan finally takes a break from all the running around and soon after its time for lunch. Yummilicious aroma of home-cooked food fills the air as the tiffins and casseroles are opened one by one. Salman gestures me to come and grab a bite and that’s when we get talking over some delicious daal-chawal.

Being a fitness conscious person, Salman Khan carrying ghar ka khana to his sets. While he savours the mom-made food, I ask him if there is one dish that he would not like to share with anyone. Salman takes a pause and replies, “I like to eat everything, but there is nothing that I won’t share with others.”

While tales of his sharing his dabba with his co-stars and film crew while shooting are famous, there’s one thing that Salman Khan secretly tells me. “I used to cook too. But I haven’t done it since long. I guess I should cook something again. I will cook and paint now. Yes,” he lets me in.

A fitness freak, Salman Khan is also a regular cyclist and loves to pedal his way from home to the sets and back. Cycling is one thing that he wants the youth to take up seriously. Salman says, “There is more than one reason why people should take up cycling. In Mumbai’s traffic, you will reach your destination faster by a cycle than in a car. People go to office by bus, autos and taxi and end up spending money. Why not cycle to work and save that money?

“Cycling saves your time, money and very importantly our depleting resources - petrol and diesel,” says Salman and adds after a brief pause, “It also makes for a great cardio exercise and keeps you fit. Not to forget, there’s zero pollution!”

A great thought and a cause, no wonder then Salman Khan’s NGO, Being Human has partnered with Sport 18 and ID Sports to organize the first ever Cyclothon in Mumbai. The event will be held on February 21st 2010, and the money raised through it will go to the NGO.

Salman also plans to introduce Being Human biking gear and t-shirts around the cyclothon and with that I just can’t help but ask him about Being Human clothesline and accessories. Salman’s reply surprises me, “I request my fans to not buy Being Human t-shirts available in the market. They are a copy and not the original Being Human stuff,” Salman further explains, “What happened is that when I started wearing the t-shrits and media clicked pictures, someone copied the design. The money you are spending on buying those t-shirts and watches sold on the streets thinking them as a Being Human brand is not going to the needy, but is landing in the pockets of some con artist.”

The beefy Khan prefers non-veg but is extremely fond of veg food too. Being a complete foodie and a great fan of his mom’s cooking, Salman does have his days of indulgence in high-calorie favourites. But what follows is an extra one hour strenuous workout session in the gym. “Khao aur ghatao. Fir kuch farak nahi padta,” says the Khan who is loved and admired for his perfect physique.

Now, if such a thing happened with an apparel giant, it would have raised an alarm over its losses, but Salman is calm about it all and has a plan in place already, “Now I will introduce a whole new Being Human collection. It will take three to four months.”

I ask him if seeing the copy of Being Human clothes being sold on Mumbai streets angered him. Salman flashes his sweet smile at me and shares an experience that gave him the inspiration to tackle such problems and situations in life. It was while shooting for ‘Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ video with little kids. “I learnt a very beautiful lesson from those kids. They couldn’t hear or speak, but still they were happy in life. Aur hum chotti chotti batoon se pareshan ho jaate hain... Headache, fever, minor bruises and just simple difficulties and challenges in day to day life perturb us, sadden us. Life is about positive attitude. End mein sab theekh ho jaata hai...,” Salman bids me goodbye with a wonderful thought.

Shahrukh wants to be a Good Actor

Shahrukh wants to be a Good Actor
Aamir Khan is not the only Bollywood superstar who goes home and picks up a book instead of the television remote. Shah Rukh Khan is also a voracious reader. King Khan truly believes that if you want to be a good actor, you have got to be a keen reader. For his latest film My Name is Khan in which his character has Asperger’s syndrome and also shades of autism, SRK read several books on the subjects to keep himself updated.

The Bollywood Badshah also confesses that he often finds himself reading several books at a time. “I read everything from news magazines to kids books, even graphic novels,” says he. And he also enjoys telling his children, Aryan and Suhana stories of Akbar and Birbal. “I’m a huge Birbal fan,” confesses SRK. “Some ill-informed sorts have reduced the far-thinking Birbal to some kind of court jester in Emperor Akbar’s court. The fact of the matter is that Birbal is actually one of the sharpest

Salman Khan on Dance India Dance

Salman Khan on Dance India Dance
Latets Buzz on Indian Television Zee TV’s Lux Dance India Dance is Rock Star Salman Khan’s visit on the sets of the show to promote his film Veer! The 3 mentors – Remo D’souza, Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapur had left no stone unturned to ensure that their favorite superstar was left completely speechless on watching the spectacular acts they had choreographed to songs from his films!

Known for his trademark mischievous sense of humor, Salman Khan had the audience in splits with his wisecracks throughout! He naughtily told his fans how Grand Master Mithun Da (who plays his father in Veer) once pointed out to a crew member of the film with a balding pate, grey hair and a haggard, wrinkled face, saying “Salman Khan, that’s my batch-mate!”. He went on to compliment Dada about how well he has maintained himself over the years, managing to look only 27 even today!

As if he wasn’t done with spilling the beans on Dada, Salman carried on to tell the audience how Mithun Da, being an excellent cook, used to make the next day’s food for the entire unit of Veer every night and workout in the kitchen with dumb-bells at the same time! The Chef with dumb-bells, eh?

Watching the enthralling performances put together by the contestants of Lux Dance India Dance, Salman decided to shake a leg too. So he got up, went on stage and jived to ‘Love Me, Love Me, Love Me’ alongside thrilled contestants Vandana & Kruti. Seeing Salman move so well, Master Terence Lewis was keen to see him perform an aerial act with cables like so many of Lux Dance India Dance contestants do. Salman Khan was hesitant at first but gave in when Terence said, “Salman, you are very strong. I’m sure you can do it!” Watching Salman in mid-air, performing as he hung on to cables, was a delight!

When some of the acts featured the boys lifting the girls high up in the air, Salman confessed, “Guys, now this is something I just cannot do! I may lift really heavy weights, bench press more than most men do but I can never lift a woman that high up in the air.” Humility, thy name is Salman Khan!

Dance Master Remo D’souza has put together a breathtaking act featuring his contestants Bhawna and Shashank as beautiful fishes in love, swimming and gliding in the ocean world. Terence Lewis had Kunwar Amarjeet and Shakti Mohan bring the romance of Salman’s popular Aankhon Ki Gustaakiya alive with a beautiful aerial act. Geeta’s salsa act to one of salman’s personal favorite tracks featuring Dharmesh, Binny and Kishore was a hit too. The superstar is said to have stood up, applauded and saluted the talented young dancers and their mentors after seeing the beautiful performances.

Do not miss a series of spectacular performances to songs from Salman Khan’s movies in a “Salman Khan special” episode of Lux Dance India Dance on Friday, 22nd January.

Salman Khan:- Brad Pitt stole my look

Salman Khan:- Brad Pitt stole my look
Being compared with Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt would be considered a compliment by most, but the observation left Salman Khan fuming.

The actor, who was promoting his upcoming period drama Veer, threw a fit when a reporter remarked that his look in the film was similar to the one sported by Pitt in Troy.

"He [Brad Pitt] was wearing a miniskirt in the film. I am not. And does my hair look blonde?" retorted Salman angrily.

But the tirade continued with the actor telling the journalist, "I had long blonde hair in Sooryavanshi, so I should stand up and say that Brad Pitt stole my look. Did that guy in Gladiator, Russell Crowe, have long hair? No, he did not. This is rubbish. I play a Pindari soldier and my look is not a copy of any Hollywood film."

The film is the brainchild of Khan who turned scriptwriter for the period drama that revolves around the life of a Pindari soldier leading a revolt against the British in 1857.

The film directed by Anil Sharma has been in the making for three decades and in Salman Khan's own words it was a "long and hard journey."

The actor, meanwhile, is leaving no stone unturned to promote the film, which releases on January 22.

He turned horse jockey at the recently held Mumbai Derby and attended the press conference at Delhi wearing a shirt emblazoned with the word Veer.

Krrish-2 Is Going To be Next Avatar?

Krrish-2 Is Going To be The Next ‘Avatar’ ?
Bollywood Director Rakesh Roshan is awfully impressed with Avatar, and he is so inspired with Cameron’s technological landmark that he wants to make his own ‘Krrish’ on the tracks of Avatar. He is quite sure that he can achieve this kind of 3D technology in India.

‘I saw the film (’Avatar’) in Los Angeles. And it certainly made me sit up and re-think about ‘Krrish’. But I don’t think it is impossible to create effects on par with Hollywood. We need to budget the sequel intelligently,’ he said.

He admits that there is no immediate plan to start working on the sequel to Krrish. ‘I am not even thinking of directing my own film until our production ‘Kites’ is released May 14. Only then will I seriously start planning my directorial project. For now, the next film I direct is Krrish’s sequel. But it may change if I’m unhappy with the script.’
But the Krrish himself, Hrithik Roshan is not in sync with his father. Though they have discussed to make a hindi movie in the light ofAvatar or 2012, but Hrithik Roshan made it very clear that there is no need to spend such a huge amount of money unless there is a scope that their venture will make an impact on the audience.

Now Hrithik Roshan is doubtful about the feasibility of this project, since they have seen the grandeur of Avatar & 2012. If they want to make a movie comparable to the Hollywood counterpart, then they must afford the cost, and moreover the must bring the best technicians to work on it, otherwise it will be another dud like many other Bollywood biggies.

Zarine Khan: I couldn't take my eyes off Katrina Kaif

Zarine Khan
Debutante Bollywood Actress Zarine Khan doesn't mind being compared to her Veer co-star Salman Khan's girlfriend Katrina Kaif
and says that the Katrina Kaif is so beautiful that even she couldn't take her eyes off.

"Being compared to Katrina Kaif is a huge compliment for me because I feel she is very beautiful. When I am compared to her, I feel overwhelmed. I have met her a couple of times and she is so beautiful that even I couldn't take my eyes off her," Zarine Khan told IANS.

"Being compared to her is always a delight. Personally speaking, when I see myself in the mirror, I find no similarities."

Zarine Khan, who is playing female lead with Salman in Veer, says that she wanted to be a doctor and that acting happened to her by chance.

"I was always a very brilliant student, but not a nerd type. I wanted to be a doctor. But I couldn't continue my studies due to a financial crisis and the responsibility of my whole family fell on my shoulders. Acting happened by chance. Now I can be everything - a doctor, pilot, everything," said Zarine Khan.

"I was a struggling model and was looking for some kind of work to take care of my family. I was doing very small print ads now and then for saris to earn money to run my house. One day I was home surfing the net when I got a call from Mukta Arts. They called me on the sets of 'Yuvvraaj'. There I met Salman Khan.

"Salman Khan is a huge actor and I am one of his great fans. I started talking to him like his fans would do. I had no clue that he was planning to take me in his film (Veer). Finally, when I asked for his autograph, he said, 'No sweetheart you will sign autograph for the world'. Later I got to know that he has selected me for this film," she added.

Though Salman Khan Zarine Khan, she had to pass an audition test.

"They had auditioned lots of girls because the female lead has two different looks in the movie - one is Indian and other Western. Whoever they auditioned looked good in either of the looks, not both. Some had language problem too. They tried me and I was lucky enough to fit into both the characters and they signed me," said Zarine.

Veer is directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Vijay Dalani and Sunil A. Lulla. The makers kept Zarine Khan's name secret for a long time.

"Even I got strict instructions to keep it a secret from friends and family. I was allowed to give some clue to my parents," she said.

Asked why they were hiding her, she said: "I don't know. I was too junior to question them why they are asking me to do so. I just did what they asked me to do."

Set in colonial India, the film encapsulates a period when Britons enslaved India with their divide and rule policy and kings and nawabs fell for it, except for the Pindaris who preferred death to dishonour and fought till their last breath. Salman plays one of the bravest and strongest Pindari soldiers.

"It's a love story set in the backdrop of a war for independence. I play a Rajasthani princess," said Zarine Khan.

Salman Khan is known as an angry man, but Zarine Khan got to know the caring and understanding side of his personality.

"I had heard that he is a very tough guy, he hardly speaks. But he spoke to me very nicely... may be because I met him first as a fan. In due course I realised whatever has been written about Salman is not true. He is so sweet. He has a heart of gold. He is a very genuine man.

"While shooting sometimes I couldn't understand some parts of my role. I used to be scared that Salman Khan would get angry. But he used to patiently explain how to go about it," said Zarine Khan.

She has already bagged a few offers but she hasn't signed any as she is waiting for the release of Veer Jan 22.

Akshay Kumar who is well renowned for his comedy as much as he is for his stunt performances seemed to be the apt person to play a comic common man much on the lines of R K Laxman's famous character.

The star has had many ups with blockbuster films, the highest honor of a "Katana", and off course he was the Indian Ambassador for the Olympics - Akshay Kumar till date is the only star in Bollywood to do justice to both his passions - film and sport.

Guinness World Record set by Abhishek Bachchan

In February 2009, Abhishek Bachchan created a world record for the Maximum number of cities visited by a film star in 12 hours, setting the stage, making him the first Indian film star to be included in the Guinness Book of World Records. Today, he was presented with the Guinness Record at the auspicious Chevrolet Apsara Awards presentation ceremony.
An excited Abhishek Bachchan shares," I'm quite excited by the success, more so because it has been done for a film that's so close to my heart. I am delighted to receive this honor at the prestigious Apsara Awards in front of the entire film industry. The issues addressed by DELHI 6 are relevant and have a strong message for our countrymen. This record I'd dedicate to the people of India."

Will Smith was the first to make it in the Guinness World Record for his movie HITCH for making the maximum number of public appearances by a film star at different cities in 12 hours promoting their film. Jargen Vogel and Daniel Bruhl (Germany) broke Will Smith's record and now Abhishek Bachchan takes the mantle.

The whirlwind set of appearances were done under strict Guinness World Record guidelines and the current record was equaled within five hours, broken in eight hours and by the time 12 hours had lapsed, Abhishek Bachchan had visited 7 cities further extending the challenge. The last two cities took more than six hours.

The record-breaking whirlwind tour, to promote his latest release DELHI 6, began on 22nd February, Sunday in the afternoon at 12.05 pm in Ghaziabad in the presence of world media; Abhishek Bachchan started his unique tour travelling to as many events in as many cities as possible within 12 hours. Other cities covered included Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh and Mumbai.

Hrithik Roshan's 2 am rehearsal

Hrithik Roshan's 2 am rehearsal
One of Bollywood's Hard Working Actor Hrithik Roshan is taking dedication to newer levels. The actor, who's known for preparing his roles well in advance was seen rehearsing his dialogues in the middle of the night giving rise to speculations that the star is under tremendous pressure to deliver a great performance.

Hrithik Roshan, who is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film GUZAARISH is reportedly having sleepless nights given the fact that he is playing the role of a paraplegic for which he is burning the mid night oil.

Recently, Hrithik Roshan was seen pacing his balcony and reciting dialogues so loud that it could be heard on the streets around his home.

Well, Hrithik Roshan's obsession with a great performance might be the actual reason behind this mid-night rehearsal, but we hope the actor doesn't take a toll on his health while following this obsession

Salman Khan in a verbal spat with makers of 'Veer'

Salman Khan in a verbal spat with makers of 'Veer'
As the release of Salman Khan's Most awaited Movie Veer is inching closer (January 22), Salman Khan is out to ensure that there are no loopholes in the film. Veer is close to the actor’s heart as he is the lead actor-cum-scriptwriter. So Salman Khan suggested a few changes after watching the rough print of the film. However, the filmmakers were in no mood to comply, resulting in an ugly, verbal spat between them.

A source says, “Salman Khan had been writing the script of Veer over the years. The film is his baby and he is personally involved in every aspect. On Friday night, while watching the rough print of the film, Salman Khan was a tad disappointed with the end product. He was unhappy with the length and wanted it to be cut short by a few minutes. He understands that today’s audience does not have the patience to watch a lengthy film. Also, there were certain scenes in this epic film which required technical changes with regards to the colour scheme. Salman explained it to the producer and director but they were adamant about leaving the colour gradient as it is. What started as a discussion finally led to a fullblown argument, resulting in an ugly, verbal spat between the actor on one side and the producer and director on the other.”

Movie Director Anil Sharma denied any such argument. He says, “I have just landed in Mumbai from Delhi. I am not aware of any such thing. The final print is not even out, so how can one watch the film? It will be out in a couple of days since editing and several other technicalities are still under process.”

However, producer Vijay Galani confirmed the news but brushed off the issue lightly. He says, “Those were creative discussions. A certain portion of the film was shown to Salman Khan and we had a discussion between Anilji, Salman and me regarding the colour gradient. It is Salman’s film and he will naturally give inputs. There was no verbal spat.”

Amrita Rao sizzles on FHM cover

Amrita Rao sizzles on FHM cover
Actress Amrita Rao is someone whom everyone thought was 'Miss India' personified! Sweet and gentle in her ways, seeing her glowing face is always a delight. Until…one day, the unimaginable happened! Despite the fact that she has worked hard to reach where she is now, the irony of the fact remains that she took a Shortkut to do so! Well, we are indeed referring about the one and only Amrita Rao, the sweet chic, who till yesterday, was considered as someone who could only do simple roles, till she proved to the world that she is as comfy in the glam roles as she is in the simple ones.

Bollywood Actress Amrita Rao is all sizzles on the cover of the latest edition of FHM magazine. This is one issue, which as they say, is 'for the keeps'. The 'history' of her story is totally inspiring. Looking back, this cool as cucumber says, "Once, I was passing by R. K. Studios as a kid. We were just crossing the gate of the studios and I thought to myself, one day, I am going to pass through that gate, and no one is going to stop me." She also adds "Whichever audition I walked in; I came out getting the assignment. I am sure that there were other models prettier than me, sexier and more attractive than me... but I got the assignments." Last, but not the least, this PYT turns the heat on the Indian men by saying, "When an Indian man is fond of a girl, the first thing that he wants to do is to cover her up (with clothes)."

All in all, Amrita Rao is surely the best way to bring in the New Year 2010. 'A must-mast buy' is how one would describe the latest edition of FHM.

Shruti Haasan sizzles on Elle cover

Shruti Haasan sizzles on Elle cover
Bollywood Actress Shruti Hassan is 24 and one film old. Judge her by this and you'd be mistaken. The brown-eyed beauty lets her hair down for this month's issue of Elle and gives us a peek into her world: her career in music, star parents and her insecurities about not fitting into Bollywood.

The daughter of legendary Tamil actor-director Kamal Hassan and actress Sarika, Shruti has a keen ear for music. Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Tamil music and RD Burman find place on her CD rack. On doing the music for her father's remake of A Wednesday, the singer-songwriter-composer tells the mag, "After doing the music for a film, it kind of changes your perspective on your own music... I've found a new phase in my life, I've found a new sound, and now I'm setting up a new band."

The gorgeous starlet is looking forward to B-town, going through film scripts in Mumbai. "It's really about doing something that makes sense to me and focusing on that. I'm exited to see what Bollywood comes up with for me." And does she feel that she might not fit in? "I have always felt in general that I might not fit in, in life", she states.

Pyaar Impossible - Movie Review

Pyaar Impossible - Movie Review
SHREK [and its instalments] has been one of the most loved movies of our times. An ogre falls in love with a princess and after overcoming their share of obstacles, the couple live happily ever after. Most Hindi movies take a similar route, don't they? We love happy endings. We want the underdog to accomplish his dreams. We feel euphoric if he walks into the sunset, holding the hand of his beloved.

A love story works if you fall in love with the on-screen characters and also if it knocks on the doors of your heart. PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE does that. PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE may not be the ultimate romantic film, but you can't deny the fact that there's something about this film that stays with you, that you carry home... sorry, carry in your heart.

PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE also works because its protagonists, Uday and Priyanka, deliver sparkling performances. No wonder, you get drawn in their world in a jiffy.

Final word? Watch PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE if you are or even if you're not a romantic. It has its heart in the right place!

In a university in California, Alisha [Priyanka Chopra] is the name of that dream everyone wished came true. The most beautiful girl on campus, she makes hearts flutter like leaves in the wind. Everybody loves Alisha.

It is no surprise then that Abhay [Uday Chopra] loves her too. Abhay is a nerdy, awkward, bespectacled geek of the college who is so far removed from her world. She doesn't even know that people like him actually exist.

One day Abhay musters up enough courage to go and express his true feelings to her and realizes that it is never gonna happen. He comes to terms with the fact that Alisha is a Princess and he is just a Geek. That is when their ways eventually part. Later, their paths cross again, as Abhay is busy trying to launch his career. Fate again brings him face to face with the woman of his dreams, Alisha.

Will Abhay have the strength to believe in himself and attempt to achieve what he never thought possible?

You may draw parallels with Chris Columbus' I LOVE YOU, BETH COOPER [2009], but the fact is that Uday Chopra's story in PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE [yes, he has penned the story, screenplay and dialogue] could be anybody's story. This is not about a nerd who wants his program back from a suave hacker. It's about a simpleton, his feelings, the complications in his life and the final triumph. Haven't we seen so many jodis in real life, who may not pair off well, but look compatible? Let's not forget, opposites attract!

You may also draw parallels with Aditya Chopra's RAB NE BANA DI JODI, but writer Uday Chopra and director Jugal Hansraj steer clear of anything that could be similar to Adi's film. The [sole] similarity starts and ends with a simpleton falling in love with an attractive girl.

Uday's screenplay remains faithful to the main plot, not deviating one bit. At the same time, it could've been tighter in the post-interval portions. There were ample occasions when Uday could've opened his heart, his motive of arriving in Singapore, that he's not a nanny, that he had been cheated by Dino. But he doesn't!

Thankfully, the writing is back on track towards its climax. Right from the kiddie song, to Priyanka realising that she loves Uday, to the press conference when Uday stands vindicated and Dino exposed, the penultimate moments are the mainstay of the enterprise.

Jugal Hansraj has the trappings of a competent director. He has handled several sensitive moments with dexterity. Salim-Sulaiman's musical score is pleasant, but it can do with that extra push [promotion] from the music division. Santosh Thundiyil's cinematography is top notch. Dialogue [also penned by Uday] are straight out of life.

PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE works largely due to the efficient performances by its principal actors - Uday Chopra and Priyanka Chopra. Both deliver sparkling performances. Priyanka has evolved into a fantastic actor and this film proves it yet again. Five minutes into the film and you realise that you are not watching Priyanka, but Alisha Merchant. That's what this fine actor does to you.

Uday gets it right as Abhay. Sure, the actor has been a part of several films in the past, but this one awakens you to this sincere performer, who, unfortunately, has never got his due. He plays the role of a Geek with astute understanding and it's thanks to his super portrayal that you feel for this character. This should be the turning point in his career.

Dino Morea springs a surprise and carries off his part very well. Anupam Kher is perfect in a brief role. Advika Yadav, the kid playing Priyanka's daughter, is adorable. And a terrific actor too!

On the whole, PYAAR IMPOSSIBLE is a feel-good film.

Dulha Mil Gaya - Movie Review

Dulha Mil Gaya - Movie Review
The recipe is simple and uncomplicated...
Take MY FAIR LADY.
Add DULHAN WAHI JO PIYA MAN BHAAYE.
Spray NASEEB APNA APNA.
Sprinkle DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE and RAB NE BANA DI JODI.
Hey presto, DULHA MIL GAYA is ready to serve.

In fact, MY FAIR LADY has been a hot favourite of Bollywood. Recall MAN PASAND [Dev Anand, Tina Munim] or HUM TERE AASHIQ HAIN [Jeetendra, Hema Malini]. Similarly, a number of storytellers have rehashed Rajshri's all-time hit DULHAN WAHI JO PIYA MAN BHAAYE [Prem Krishen, Rameshwari] in various avtaars, over the years.

DULHA MIL GAYA is a mix of the above-named films. Like they say in filmi lingo, it's old wine in new bottle. So what? How different can a love story be, since this genre has been done to death in Bollywood? Point noted, but the narrative ought to be engaging if it has to strike a chord and that's where DULHA MIL GAYA falters.

Merely assembling A-listers and filming the movie at panoramic locations isn't enough. The film ought to have meat and that's missing here.

Let me elaborate. Debutante director Mudassar Aziz, who has also penned the script, borrows from the past, going for the tried-and-tested stuff, but the narrative, already low on fuel, comes to a grinding halt by the time it reaches its finale.

Donsai [Fardeen Khan], a young commitment-phobic debonair, is petrified with terms like marriage and long-term relationships. Samarpreet [Ishita Sharma] is a quintessential Punjabi girl, for whom relationships are to be cherished.

Shimmer [Sushmita Sen] is a diva from the world of glamour for whom love and relationships aren't important in life as independence and success are. Pawan Raj Gandhi/PRG [Shah Rukh Khan] is a suave multi-millionaire whose heart still remains larger than his bank balance and for whom winning love is the only victory there is.

When paths cross for these four characters, they not only land up influencing each other with their outlook on relationships, but also get influenced themselves and learn a whole new meaning of the term.

Something that got ignited with D.D.L.J. continues to shimmer to this date. Our stories continue to travel from firangi land to the fields of Punjab. DULHA MIL GAYA too does that [initially], before MY FAIR LADY and RAB NE BANA DI JODI take over.

To give the credit where it's due, DULHA MIL GAYA has some interesting moments, but the problem is they are few and far between. One expects things to perk up when SRK's character is introduced [in the post-interval portions], but your hopes go crashing as nothing worthy of note occurs.

The writing has gaping flaws, which are difficult to absorb after a point. The girl travels all the way from Punjab to Trinidad and Tobago, but not once do her concerned parents call to enquire how she is. Strangely, even the girl doesn't feel the need to inform them. If that's not enough, Sushmita takes upon herself to tame Fardeen, giving you the impression that she thinks from her heart. But when it comes to her relationship with Shah Rukh, she behaves in a rather odd manner. SRK, on the other hand, seems completely besotted by her, even though she never reciprocates his feelings. Hence, her somersault in the end - just because Ishita has given her some bhashan - doesn't look convincing.

Mudassar Aziz's direction is a shade better than his writing. And that's not saying much. Given the fact that newer stories are being attempted in these fast-changing times and in view of the fact that he had some of the best talents on board, Mudassar should've seized the opportunity and told a refreshingly different and absorbing tale. But he doesn't. Sure, a few sequences are clever and smart, but that's not enough.

The music is of a mixed variety. 'Akela Dil' is groovy, while the title track is strictly okay. Cinematography is appealing.

Sushmita excels in a role that demands her to be hoity-toity. She enacts her part effortlessly. One wishes to see her more often on the big screen! Fardeen does a good job, especially towards the end when he's about to confess something vital to Ishita. Ishita delivers a sincere performance. It's a pity that a superstar like Shah Rukh is terribly wasted in an inconsequential role. It may not go down well with his fans.

Mohit Chadha has screen presence, but gets no scope. Johny Lever is wasted. Ditto for Tara Sharma. Suchitra Pillai and Howard Rosemeyer are passable. Parikshit Sahni, Bina Kak and Viveck Vaswani are as usual.

On the whole, DULHA MIL GAYA doesn't work!

Zarine Khan: I am not clone of Katrina Kaif

Zarine Khan: I am not clone of Katrina Kaif
Bollywood New Actress Zarine Khan, who is making her big screen debut with Bollywood RockSTar Salman Khan's dream project 'Veer', takes comparisons with Katrina Kaif as "compliment" but says she does not resemble the 'Namaste London' star. "She is beautiful. I have seen her, met her a couple of times. Even being a girl, I could not take my eyes off her. But, we are two different people. She has made her mark for herself, I have just begun. When I look at myself in the mirror I don't see myself resembling her," Zarine Khan said in an interview. The model-turned-actress, who is playing a Rajasthani princess in the period drama, said Katrina often came on the sets of 'Veer'.

"She gave me lot of advise on make up and other professional tips," Zarine Khan said. The actress has been compared to Katrina Kaif and reportedly played her body double in Subhash Ghai's 'Yuvvraaj'. The newcomer said she had to put on 8 to 10 kgs weight to look the character of a Rajasthani princess. "Putting on weight was the easiest thing to do before facing the camera. I was 54 kgs before I was signed for the film," Zarine said. She said extensive research of the period when the film was set revealed that the queens and princesses were not skinny, but well-built. "So, I had to look that way. Now that the film is complete and ready for release, I have to get back to shape otherwise I could face problems for my future projects. I have to lose some 3 to 4 kgs more," she said. Zarine said she was a bright student growing up in Mumbai and aspired to be a doctor. "I was a tomboy who loved to ride bikes. But, financial crisis in the family did not allow me to complete my education and had to do small modelling assignments to run the house," she recalled. "Nobody would remember the work I did nor recognise me in them.

Now I want to do bigger things in life," she said. The actress said "Veer" was unplanned and Zarine Khan recalled the time when she was called by Mukta Arts on the sets of 'Yuvvraaj'. "I did not ask why I was called on the sets, but I got to meet Salman. When I asked him for an autograph, he said, 'no sweetheart, you will sign autographs for the world'," she said recalling her meeting with Salman. The actor, who has turned scriptwriter for the movie, recommended her name to the makers. Salman plays a Pindari soldier in the film, which is set in the set in 1875. The film will hit theatres on January 22. Zarine Khan, a self-confessed fan of Salman Khan says after a bad spell, good times have come to her now. "I got to romance my idol on screen in a film that has been written by him.

No matter what is written about him, Bollywood Hunk Salman Khan has a heart of gold and a thorough gentleman," she said. She was auditioned for the role along with many girls."Not all looked good in both the Indian and western look, the character has to portray. I fitted the bill well," she said. She said even though she would love to work in romantic movies, she understands that she can't get choosy. "I have no knowledge about anything related to the film industry. I will take advice of people who have helped me so far. I am getting offers, but will decide on my next project after the release of my debut film."

Priyanka Chopra with Akshay Kumar - Coming soon

Priyanka Chopra with Akshay Kumar - Coming soon
Grapevine is a buzz that Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar just might star together in Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan. Post their sizzling chemistry in films such as Andaaz, Aitraaz and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, linkup stories were rife, followed by rumours that Akki's wife Twinkle was getting insecure about the pair's off- screen friendship and told him not to work with her.

Apparently both always claimed that if a good script came they wouldn't mind working together.

Contrary rumours are doing the rounds about the two doing the movie. While some say that Akshay asked Farah to cast Priyanka, others claim it was Priyanka who sent feelers to Farah showing interest in the movie.

In the meantime, the industry has its fingers crossed about this sensational jodi getting back on screen. We will have our confirmed answer soon.
